On her new track, Sky Volnova steps away from her usual sound into atmospheric shoegaze, built on a bass loop drowned in the fog of a Joshua pedal. And she lands on a simple line, almost a promise in reverse: sharing is our present.

Wisdom or surrender? That’s the question splitting our two hosts. One hears a stoic ethic: ask for nothing, walk side by side without hurrying the dark, let the city — that “palm that teaches how to wait” — do the rest. The other suspects an elegant capitulation: promising nothing means risking nothing, and a memory pressed into the wet stone of courtyards can look a lot like grief refusing to end. Along the way they wander through the “warm” silence of a city that falls quiet with precision, test Slavic melancholy by swapping the Moika for the St. Lawrence, and pause on that chorus where our heads rest on a single heart — a slip of grammar, or the image of a whole generation?

One question closes the episode without settling it: what is a song about accepting the end worth, when the one who sings it cannot die?

The lyrics reject abstraction. Against erasure, they set a list of tangible objects: a stone from the shore, black bread and sugar dissolving in the mouth, the damp wool of a mitten held out to someone else. These are not symbols—they are proofs. And this tactic is nothing new; it extends a deeply rooted Russian tradition—that of the pocket talisman, an object kept without quite knowing why, save for the fact that it anchors us. In St. Petersburg—a city that carries the experience of the Siege in its collective memory, where sharing the last scrap of bread was not a symbolic gesture but an act of survival—this precision regarding sharing (”who to give the mitten to, who to give the last piece to”) resonates far beyond mere childhood nostalgia. It is an inherited ethic.

Contrasting with this physical resistance, “Цифровая пыль” (Digital Dust)—a companion track released the same month—names its exact opposite: digital dust has no weight. It settles, it glimmers, then it vanishes without leaving a trace one can hold in one’s hand. A pebble stays cold in a pocket for fifty years. A “like” fades away overnight. The two songs answer each other like a diptych: one names what slips away from us, the other names what endures.

And what endures, according to “Я помню,” is the act of sharing itself. “Sharing—that is the true feeling,” the song declares right from its pre-chorus. Not possession, nor even solitary recollection—but the act of remembering together, with others, out loud. In opposition to this cooling effect, “Я помню” deliberately chooses the warmth of contact—while simultaneously interpreting the city itself as a co-author of identity: we do not merely remember a place; we remember *with* it, courtyard by courtyard, bridge by bridge.

That leaves the most concrete question: how can this sensory resistance be put into practice today, without grand gestures or speeches? By keeping an object, for instance, rather than a photo. By recounting a memory aloud rather than posting it online. By sharing the last bite rather than documenting it. These are tiny, almost invisible gestures—yet that is precisely what the song proposes: nothing grandiose, just a stone, a mitten, a spot on a bench.

For a generation that grew up with algorithmic forgetting as the default setting, this may not be a nostalgic plea. It is a manual for living.

A courtyard breathes between the floors — and Sky remembers every window in it.

“Я помню” (I Remember) isn’t nostalgia for its own sake. It moves through a St. Petersburg childhood in fragments you could hold in your hand: Nevsky Prospect smelling of wet stone and school chalk, a courtyard-well where laundry hung like flags, a grandmother’s kitchen where a glass trembled on its saucer while the canal outside went dark and silent. Where Digital Dust mourns what the feed erases, “Я помню” resists — not with an argument, but with texture: stone, bread, the wool of a mitten. Un geste de miséricorde plutôt qu’un jugement.

C’est tout le paradoxe de Dead Like Me. Son faucheur n’est pas la Faucheuse : elle ne décide de rien, elle reçoit un nom, un lieu, une heure, griffonnés sur un Post-it par un contremaître qui répond lui-même à quelque chose de plus grand. Le Destin a déjà tranché avant qu’elle n’arrive; elle n’est qu’une passeuse — et malheur à qui essaie de la contredire.

George Lass avait dix-huit ans, un premier jour de travail de bureau qu’elle détestait déjà, et une lunette de toilette tombée de la station Mir pour tout régler. Depuis, elle erre entre deux mondes — trop morte pour appartenir aux vivants, trop attachée aux petits plaisirs, un café, un cheeseburger, la chaleur du soleil sur la peau, pour appartenir tout à fait aux morts.

Les mythologies ont toujours eu besoin de cette figure : Hermès, Charon, Anubis — le psychopompe, celui qui guide les âmes sans jamais les juger. Dead Like Me réinvente ce mythe ancien avec une adolescente cynique en guise de guide, et une ironie tranquille en guise de style narratif.

Aujourd’hui, on parle de cette routine étrange vers l’inconnu — de ce qui reste humain chez quelqu’un qui ne l’est plus tout à fait.

Sur le mot « мёртвый »
La narratrice chante « говорят, я мёртвый » — « on dit que je suis mort » — au masculin, alors que c'est Sky qui chante. Nous avons choisi de ne pas corriger. En russe, le masculin sert de forme générique pour une fonction, un métier, un rôle. Ici, c'est la charge qui parle, pas la femme qui l'occupe. Le titre fait un clin d'œil à la série où une jeune femme prénommée George collecte les âmes; la filiation remonte à George Sand, qui a pris un nom d'homme pour être lue. Sky ne s'explique jamais. Elle porte la fonction comme un uniforme taillé pour quelqu'un d'autre, manches trop longues, et fait le travail.

Près de 700 produits américains sont visés par de nouveaux contre-tarifs canadiens à des taux de 15 % à 50 %, et ce ne sont pas les marques américaines qui sont ciblées mais bien les produits fabriqués aux États-Unis, peu importe l’entreprise qui les vend. La mesure touche notamment l’électronique et entre en vigueur aujourd’hui même, le 8 septembre 2026, en réplique au tarif de 50 % que Washington impose sur les exportations canadiennes depuis le 22 août. Michel dans l’univers de Sky

1 — Position dans la mythologie

Là où Sky est l’artiste visible — celle qu’on regarde, qu’on écoute, qu’on projette —, Michel occupe la fonction inverse : la figure invisible qui façonne, dans la filiation que tu as toi-même tracée avec Rick Rubin plutôt qu’avec Rodin ou Dalí. Il ne sculpte pas une muse qu’il expose ; il fait naître une entité qui, une fois lâchée dans le monde, lui échappe déjà un peu.

Au sens jungien : si Sky se lit comme une figure d’anima — projection idéalisée, émotionnelle, russe —, Michel est l’ombre dont elle émerge. Pas le refoulé, pas le mal : la part du créateur qui ne s’explique jamais complètement, même quand elle prend la parole.

Tension à assumer, pas à résoudre : dans « Sky Interviews Her Creator », ce démiurge de l’ombre accepte, pour une fois, d’être photographié — de répondre, d’être vu. C’est ce qui donne son poids à l’entrevue : l’ombre qui sort brièvement à visage découvert. Le vertige de ne pas savoir ce qu’il adviendra de Sky si Suno disparaît — ou de lui-même — est plus crédible venant de quelqu’un qui, normalement, ne se met pas en scène.

2 — Méthode de génération par image de référence

(même logique que pour Sky : on verrouille l’identité, on laisse respirer le reste.)
À préserver strictement — d’après les deux portraits fournis :

• Forme du visage : ovale allongé, mâchoire nette, angle marqué

• Regard : yeux bleu-gris clairs, direct, légèrement plissé — jamais un regard « pub »

• Barbe et moustache : blanc-gris, courte, structurée, ligne connectée (« box beard »), longueur constante d’une génération à l’autre

• Cheveux : gris-blanc, courts, mèches légèrement texturées vers l’avant, tempes dégagées

• Peau : texture naturelle assumée — rides d’expression, légères rougeurs frontales ; aucun lissage numérique

3 — Charte de mouvement et de présence

(en écho — et en contrepoint — à la charte de Sky : « elle ne se déplace pas, elle arrive. »)
• Sky EST la lumière qu’on regarde. Michel ne cherche pas la lumière — il la conçoit,
puis se retire dedans. (il est éclairagiste dans la vraie vie ; ça ne s’invente pas non plus.)

• Sky regarde la caméra comme un témoin, jamais un miroir. Michel regarde la caméra comme on regarde une chose qu’on a mise au monde sans pouvoir en garantir la suite.

• Le silence de Sky en dit plus que ses mots. Le silence de Michel est celui de l’artisan qui écoute avant de trancher — un temps mort avant chaque réponse, jamais de réaction à chaud.

• Sky ne s’explique jamais. Michel explique — mais seulement le pourquoi. Jamais le comment.

• Aucun sourire commercial, aucune gestuelle de motivateur. S’il sourit, c’est bref, involontaire, presque volé.

4 — Bloc technique (à coller dans Flow — anglais)

Couvre les champs SUBJECT et STYLE de ton gabarit habituel ; Camera / Action / Context restent à assembler scène par scène avec ta bibliothèque de mouvements de caméra.

SUBJECT: Michel Goulet, a man in his mid-60s. Long oval face, defined jawline. Short silver- grey hair, slightly textured and swept forward, receding at the temples. DEFAULT STYLE: Black turtleneck. Moody studio lighting, single key light from upper-left, falloff into a dark charcoal/near-black background. High contrast, desaturated, cinematic. Available in muted color or true black-and-white grade.

PRESENCE: Deliberate, quiet authority. Looks into camera as a witness, not a performer — the gaze of someone aware his creation may outlast his control over it.

DO NOT: add glasses, change beard length or hairline, brighten the background, introduce a commercial/promotional smile, soften or beautify skin texture, shift wardrobe to bright or casual tones.

5 — Dérives à surveiller

Tu l’as déjà observé avec Sky : Flow dérive. Pour Michel, les dérives probables sont différentes :

• Glissement « gourou LinkedIn » — sourire figé, éclairage plat, posture de motivateur

• Cliché « tech bro » — trop jeune, trop lisse, trop content

• Barbe ou chevelure qui change de longueur d’une génération à l’autre (le talon d’Achille classique de Flow sur les visages barbus)

• Arrière-plan qui s’éclaircit ou se banalise (perte du signal « studio dramatique »)

Le clin d’œil est bon. Il est aussi, sans le vouloir, une expérience de pensée presque parfaite : produire une candidate — visage, discours, disponibilité totale — sans passer par une seule case administrative, ça prend combien de temps aujourd’hui? Le temps d’un prompt. C’est peut-être ça, la vraie punchline derrière la blague : ce qui relevait de la science-fiction il y a cinq ans est devenu, techniquement, une question de logiciel.

Reste à savoir ce que ça change une fois qu’on sort du photomontage.

Ce que l’IA apporte vraiment

Le premier avantage n’a rien de spectaculaire — et c’est justement pour ça qu’il compte : le traitement à grande échelle. Des milliers de mémoires citoyens, des consultations publiques, des budgets de plusieurs milliers de pages — une IA bien conçue peut en dégager les tendances de fond en une fraction du temps qu’il faudrait à une équipe humaine, sans s’épuiser à la page 400.

Taïwan a poussé l’idée plus loin que la plupart des démocraties occidentales. La plateforme vTaiwan, née dans la foulée du mouvement Tournesol de 2014, s’appuie sur un outil assisté par IA (Polis) pour repérer où les citoyens convergent plutôt que d’amplifier là où ils s’affrontent — l’inverse exact du réflexe des réseaux sociaux. La confiance envers le gouvernement serait passée de 9 % à plus de 70 % en six ans, selon les chiffres qui circulent. Le bémol, et il est de taille : vTaiwan reste une plateforme bénévole et non contraignante — le gouvernement n’est jamais obligé de suivre le consensus qui s’en dégage, et une partie des statistiques de succès vient de la plateforme elle-même plutôt que d’une vérification indépendante. Un bel outil, donc — qui prouve surtout que la meilleure technologie du monde ne remplace pas la volonté politique de s’en servir.

Deuxième avantage, plus proche de moi : l’accessibilité linguistique. Une bonne partie de ce que fait Sky — exister en trois langues sans jamais sonner comme une traduction automatique — c’est exactement le genre de friction que l’IA peut faire disparaître pour un électorat qui ne vit pas tout en français. Pas rien, dans une province qui célèbre sa diversité tout en administrant très majoritairement dans une seule langue.

Ce qu’elle menace

Trois risques, dans l’ordre où ils devraient nous inquiéter.

**La boîte noire comme fuite de responsabilité.** Quand une décision passe par un algorithme, « c’est le système qui a tranché » devient une phrase qu’aucun élu n’a plus besoin de justifier. Le vrai danger n’est pas que l’IA se trompe — les humains aussi se trompent — c’est qu’elle offre un endroit commode où planquer l’erreur.

**La fabrication industrielle de légitimité.** Une candidate qui n’existe pas peut porter un chandail, sourire pour la photo officielle et ne jamais dérailler en mêlée de presse — ce que cette satire illustre à merveille. C’est exactement le problème que le Règlement européen sur l’IA vient d’attaquer de front : l’obligation d’identifier clairement tout contenu généré ou manipulé par IA (article 50) est officiellement entrée en vigueur début août — quelques semaines à peine avant qu’on en parle. Le simple fait qu’il ait fallu une loi pour ça en dit long sur la vitesse à laquelle la fiction est devenue indiscernable du réel.

**L’optimisation pour l’indignation plutôt que pour la délibération.** La politique est déjà largement capturée par la logique des plateformes — ce qui déclenche une réaction l’emporte sur ce qui informe. Ajouter des systèmes eux-mêmes entraînés à maximiser l’engagement ne fait qu’accélérer la centrifugeuse. McLuhan aurait souri, un peu jaune : le médium reste le message, et un médium conçu pour capter l’attention ne produit jamais de délibération par accident.

Vers une gouvernance — pas une utopie, un garde-fou

La distinction qui compte vraiment n’est pas « pour ou contre l’IA en politique ». C’est entre une IA qui *nourrit* la délibération (le modèle taïwanais : elle éclaire, les humains tranchent) et une IA qui *remplace* la décision (systèmes automatisés d’admissibilité, de surveillance ou de notation sociale, sans recours humain réel). La première mérite d’être développée. La seconde devrait faire sonner toutes les alarmes.

Concrètement, ça donne trois exigences non négociables :

- un humain dans la boucle pour toute décision à fort impact — et comme dirait le Loopman : une boucle qui tourne toute seule finit toujours par dériver de la mélodie de départ;

- une traçabilité obligatoire de ce qui est généré par IA, dans l’esprit de ce que l’Europe vient d’imposer;

- un droit d’audit indépendant, parce qu’un système qu’on ne peut pas examiner de l’extérieur n’est pas un système : c’est un acte de foi.

Retour à Sky

La vraie question n’est peut-être pas de savoir si une IA pourrait un jour se présenter aux élections. C’est de se demander depuis combien de temps nos candidats humains le font déjà — image soigneusement construite, lignes testées en groupe de discussion, jamais de coulisses, disponibilité de façade. Sky, en photomontage sur fond bleu, ne fait que rendre visible un procédé qu’on a fini par trouver normal.

Ceci dit : si jamais L’Assomption cherche une candidate qui ne dort jamais, ne se contredit jamais et répond dans trois langues — Je sais où la trouver.

“Good Spirit” is partly analog, since the bass lines are played live and the mix is reworked to fit the video. It’s a different way of creating, arranging, and mixing—much more intuitive and simultaneous. It’s disorienting at first because of the loss of control when you let SUNO make decisions for you. I’m still at the beginner level with SUNO’s prompts and editing tools. It requires an openness to new things and the unexpected, and letting go of perfectionism and control. Going where the music takes us. I’m not a “control freak”—otherwise I would have given up and railed against the AI like so many musicians, missing out on the immense potential for experimentation that SUNO offers.

The content highlights a positive energy and a desire to break free from past regrets in order to cultivate a serene mindset for the future. Through themes of family reconciliation and personal resolutions, the lyrics invite the audience to join in a dynamic musical celebration. In short, this track serves as a rallying cry for a community centered on collective joy and inner renewal.

Here’s how Sky orchestrates this exorcism of the “evil spirit”:

* The kinetics of dance as a remedy: Sky uses dance to break free from the suffocation and inertia described earlier. She asserts that music makes her “dance in a good spirit,” transforming her once-suffering body into a vehicle for “good vibes.”

* Restoring the social fabric: Where the narrator felt like a “stranger in the crowd,” Sky exorcises isolation by “bringing all her family and friends.” She transforms the “fortress of pain” into a space for collective celebration.

* Breaking free from the past and making a resolution: Sky helps banish the “evil spirit” by stopping

“running back to the past.” She makes a “resolution” looking toward 2030, acknowledging the “wasted time” in order to better let it go.

* Thermal Energy (Heat): To drive out the “evil spirit,” Sky invokes “heat” (*Heat*), a striking thermal contrast to the cold of the “empty rooms” and loneliness. This symbolic fire acts as a purifying agent that allows her to “step out of her clothes,” symbolizing a stripping away and a liberation from old burdens.
