Sky Volnova plays the new hire of the afterlife. Neither evil nor salvation — just a job with no days off. She comes in without knocking, with no name on the door, and never asks to be looked in the face. They call her dead, yet she remembers everything: how a city smells in the morning, the exact weight of a stranger’s shoulder on a train that may no longer exist.
She doesn’t take lives. She only gathers souls.
On the word « мёртвый »
Sky sings « говорят, я мёртвый » — « they say I’m dead » — in the masculine. We chose not to fix it. In Russian, the masculine is the generic form for a function, a trade, a role: here it is the office that speaks, not the woman holding it. The title nods to the series where a young woman named George collects souls — a lineage running back to George Sand, who took a man’s name to be read at all. Sky doesn’t explain herself. She wears the function like a uniform cut for someone else, sleeves too long, and does the work.

Behind Sky Volnova, there is an artist: The Bass Loopman.
I play bass, building my music live, note by note, with a looper — a machine that records and repeats my loops endlessly. It’s handcrafted, human, and takes years to master. I add drums and keyboards as the mood strikes. I feed my ideas to AI, which offers possibilities. I choose, deconstruct, add, remix — until the work speaks to me.
Sky is a character I invented. My muse. My digital Galatea — a wandering photographer born in Russia, sculpted from scratch: her universe, her lyrics, her voice, her visual identity — with AI as my palette, the way Picasso used collage. She sings in Russian because that’s who she is, because I decided it, and because Russian audiences listen to her and respond.
AI doesn’t create for me. It amplifies what I’ve already decided to do. Human creativity. Modern tools. Real music.

Героиня поёт « говорят, я мёртвый » — в мужском роде, хотя поёт Скай. Мы сознательно не стали это исправлять. В русском языке мужской род служит общей формой для функции, профессии, роли. Здесь говорит не женщина, а должность, которую она занимает. Название отсылает к сериалу, где души собирает девушка по имени Джордж; за ней стоит Жорж Санд — женщина, писавшая под мужским именем, чтобы её вообще читали. Скай ничего не объясняет. Она носит функцию как форму, сшитую на кого-то другого, с длинными рукавами, и делает свою работу.

Derrière Sky Volnova, il y a un artiste : The Bass Loopman.
Je joue de la basse, je construis mes musiques en direct, note par note, avec un looper — une machine qui enregistre et répète mes boucles à l’infini. C’est artisanal, humain, ça prend des années à maîtriser. J’y ajoute batterie et claviers selon l’humeur. Je soumets mes idées à l’IA, qui propose des possibilités. Je choisis, déconstruis, ajoute, remixe — jusqu’à ce que l’œuvre me parle.
Sky est un personnage que j’ai inventé. Ma muse. Ma Galatée numérique — une photographe vagabonde née en Russie, que j’ai sculptée de toutes pièces : son univers, ses textes, sa voix, son identité visuelle — avec l’IA comme palette, comme Picasso utilisait le collage. Elle chante en russe parce que c’est qui elle est, parce que je l’ai décidé ainsi, et parce que le public russe l’écoute et lui répond.
L’IA ne crée pas à ma place. Elle amplifie ce que j’ai déjà décidé de faire. Créativité humaine. Outils modernes. Musique vraie.
Sur le mot « мёртвый »
Sky chante « говорят, я мёртвый » — « on dit que je suis mort » — au masculin. Nous avons choisi de ne pas corriger. En russe, le masculin sert de forme générique pour une fonction, un métier, un rôle : c’est la charge qui parle, pas la femme qui l’occupe. Le titre fait un clin d’œil à la série où une jeune femme prénommée George collecte les âmes; la filiation remonte à George Sand, qui a pris un nom d’homme pour être lue. Sky ne s’explique jamais. Elle porte la fonction comme un uniforme taillé pour quelqu’un d’autre, manches trop longues, et fait le travail.
